Emperor Guangxu (Kuang-hsu/光緒帝) (14 Aug 1871 – 14 Nov 1908), born Aisin-Gioro Zaitian, was the 11th emperor of the Qing Dynasty, and the 11th Qing emperor to rule over China. His reign lasted from 1875 to 1908, but in reality, his reign were under Empress Dowager Cixi’s influence, his actual active rule only from 1889 to 1898. He initiated the Hundred Days’ Reform, but was abruptly ended when Cixi countered a coup in 1898, after which he was put under house arrest until his death.
